USCIS Filing Fee Increase
On July 22, 2025, USCIS published a Federal Register notice announcing the implementation of these H.R. 1 immigration-related fees. Beginning in FY 2026, and continuing for each subsequent fiscal year, the Department of Homeland Security will adjust some of these fees for inflation, as specified in H.R. 1.
When Do New Filing Fees Go Up?
The new inflation-adjusted USCIS filing fees take effect on October 16, 2026. If you submit a request postmarked on or after October 16, 2026, for a benefit that requires one of these fees, you must include the new fee for the specific benefit you are requesting. Any request postmarked on or after Oct. 16, 2026 without the proper filing fee will be rejected.
Which USCIS Forms Will Filing Fees Increase For?
Starting on October 16, 2026, the USCIS filing fees will increase for Asylum Applicants (Form I-589), Applications for Employment Authorization (Form I-765), Applications for Advance Parole (Form I-131), and Applications for or to Renew Temporary Protective Status (Form I-821).
